Born in 1976, Marcantonio studied at the Institute of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts before beginning his career as a set designer and sculptor. His early work saw him active both as an artist, working directly with collectors, and as an interior designer, creating shops and venues for private clients. Since 2001, Marcantonio has devoted himself to art and industrial design, bringing an unpredictable, sculptural and emotional dimension to the world of design. In recent years, he has become one of the most highly regarded Italian art designers of his generation.
Marcantonio creates pure, simple expressions inspired by everyday life while maintaining a distinctly artistic character. His creations combine objects rooted in memory with provocative reinterpretations of their familiar forms.
A recurring theme throughout Marcantonio’s work is the relationship between humankind and nature: the ways in which humans alter the natural world, and the powerful attraction of nature and its unattainable beauty. His subjects are therefore often inspired by the natural and animal worlds, resulting in designs that are new, experimental and unexpected.
Alongside his independent artistic practice, which includes limited-edition bronzes and sculptures, Marcantonio currently collaborates with a number of companies operating on the international stage.
